I'm really excited by how quickly Obama is leveraging his presidential power to effect change. He just prevented Citigroup from buying a $50 million luxury jet by telling them to "fix it."
While he's making a great gesture, and I'm pretty happy that tax-payer funds aren't going to this rather frivolous end, I must admit that I'm worried about the implications. Obviously, he can't call up every organization funded by taxes and change its spending patterns. Even if he could, I think people would resent that after a while. How will he handle such spending in the future?
Given that I voted for him, I'm rooting for things to go well. I guess I'm just skeptical of his administration being too good to be true.
